Visiting Artists Committee Update
The Visiting Artists Committee is excited and grateful to be bringing lots of enriching arts experiences to our students this school year.
The committee has been busy booking arts experiences for Adam Beck students this spring. This includes bringing clay, comic book, textile, mixed media and photography artists into classrooms, as well as bringing in a dance performance for the whole school, and more.
Below is a list of what has been booked.
- Visual artists from VIBE Arts for all classes — Grade 1 to 6 teachers chose either a mixed media/collage project, a photography project, a textile project, or a comic book project. Kindergarten classes will work with clay. These visits have already started. Some happened late February and others will be taking place in March and later in the spring.
- A virtual author visit from David A. Robertson (who will also be giving a talk for parents/caregivers – stay tuned for the event date), author of many books for young people including The Barren Grounds and When We Were Alone, for students in grades 4 to 6 in March
- An in-person presentation of African Voyage for junior grades by artist Njacko Backo
- A full school, in-person presentation of Tales of Goddesses and a Painter by the Little Pear Dance Company.
