What if, as a community, we chose to go back to a simpler approach—at least for our kids?
Once upon a time, phones were just that—a way to connect with family and close friends. We had real conversations and actually heard each other’s voices.
But now, smartphones and tablets are connecting our kids to strangers across the world. They’re not just phones—they’re gateways to unlimited contact with people they may not know, through text, images, and video. Many apps even connect kids based on age or location—sometimes without our knowledge.
Here at Adam Beck, we’re doing something different.
By signing the Unplugged Canada pledge, families are committing to delay smartphones with internet access until at least age 14. Every pledge inspires another. And together, we’re creating a ripple effect that helps protect our kids.
Already handed over a smartphone and now having second thoughts? It’s never too late. You can still swap it out for a safer talk-and-text phone and sign the pledge. The key is doing this together—as a team, as a school, as a community.
