Turf Survey and Next Steps

Thanks to everyone who responded to our recent turf survey – we had over 125 responses! We presented the details at our last school council meeting, and here is the quick summary:

  • 55% of respondents are somewhat or very interested in replacing the current grass field with artificial turf
  • 45% of respondents felt that school council should contribute $5k or less to a turf field
  • No decisions have been made to go ahead with installing turf, as this was an exploratory survey to gauge community interest and seek feedback
  • Next steps:
    • Consult with TDSB
      • What are all the options that exist?
      • What needs to be done to prepare the field?
      • What are the timelines?
      • What is the cost?
      • Who pays and how much?
    • Put together a committee to liaise with school admin, TDSB stakeholders and School Council
    • Present findings to council – If we do end up doing something that would require school council funds, it would need to follow the usual budget process. There may be more consultation than a typical proposal, but ultimately we have a budget process and bylaws in place to manage requests that require an outlay of funds – big or small.
