STEM Update

At the January council meeting, council approved a spend of just over $1,600 for the English version of Netmath, an online math resource. (The French version is free.) And council has now paid for access for all of the teachers who requested it.

Originally, council had approved a STEM budget of $5,780 for this year to be spent on Scientists in the School. However, once the specific ways in which this year would be different became apparent, teachers expressed that they would prefer that council put money toward Netmath instead.

About Netmath:
“Netmath is a digital resource for grades 1 to 11 fully aligned to the Ontario curriculum. It provides students an immersive learning experience that uses an award-winning Badge system and gamified challenges to master outcomes and objectives. The user experience is easy and teachers have ready access to support tools and class reports.”
