Adam Beck students support their community

Every year, School Council funds teacher-led and student-informed community outreach initiatives that engage students to support and make a difference in our community.

On May 17, Adam Beck invited the Earth Rangers – the kids’ conservation organization – to our environmental assembly. Earth Rangers brought three endangered animals: an eagle owl, a painted turtle and a pine marten. They spoke about the importance of protecting animals and about what students can do to help protect animals and their habitats. Adam Beck made a $500 donation to the Earth Rangers to support their cause.

Adam Beck also supported Children’s Book Bank, an organization that provides free books and literacy support to children living in low-income neighborhoods across Toronto. Earlier in April, Adam Beck’s Eco-Team raised funds from the sale of used books donated by parents and families. Left over books from this campaign were donated to the Children’s Book Bank in Regent Park / St. James Town neighborhood which welcomes families, school and camp groups to listen to stories, browse their collection, and choose a favorite book to take home to keep. In addition, Adam Beck supported the Children’s Book Bank with a $200 donation.

Many thanks to Mme Bruce for educating and engaging students to support our community!
