Adam Beck gardens get ready for spring planting

The School Garden Committee will be assisting students with the spring planting on Wednesday, June 6. Rain day is Thursday, June 7. The Committee will be helping to maintain the gardens while hosting students throughout the day in the various school gardens.

We’ll start the day by preparing the garden beds and doing some pruning, and then will welcome the students as follows:

9:30 – 10 a.m. – Kindie Garden – South
(Sun loving plants for flower beds, planters and fencing – morning glories, sun flowers, petunias, etc.)

10:30 – 11 a.m. -Primary Garden – Front
(Shade loving plants for flower beds along school and by the road – impatiens, begonias, hostas, etc.)

1 – 1:30 p.m. -Kindie Garden – North
(Butterflyway garden – more vervain, ox eye, wild strawberries, black eyed susans, coneflowers, etc. Edible garden planters – kale, tomatoes, peas. Plus weed east side and lay wood chips under planters.)

1:30 – 2 p.m. -Junior Garden – Back Playground
(Butterfly and sun loving –  butterfly bushes, marigolds, black eyed susans for planters. Also this year we are going to plant lovely ivy along the fencing.)

Please let me know if you have any other ideas and if you’re available to help – and for which shifts (am or pm or both).

I’ll have a sign up sheet for teachers in the office by tomorrow.

As always please bring garden gloves and water bottle.

Look forward to getting in the garden with you soon 🙂

Thanks,
Connie
