School council 2018-19 wrap-up
We are almost at the end of another busy school year. As your school council co-chairs, we’d like to send a huge, hearty thank you to all Adam Beck community members – parents and guardians, teachers, school admin, school staff and students – for another wonderful year. Thank you!
From Monsterbash at Halloween to Mayfair and the last movie night a few weeks ago, council has helped build community, raise funds and support our kids’ education. See the follow link to the year-end report for more examples of council’s efforts.
School council’s work gets done in many ways, by many people. Council relies on the participation of parents and guardians, and council events are solely run by volunteers. We are immensely grateful for:
- all the people who led and participated on school council committees or participated as council officers
- for those who have come to meetings to listen and share their thoughts
- everyone who has supported events by volunteering their time or by showing up and having fun.
The events and programs council helps bring to the school wouldn’t be valuable without the advice and support of our principal, vice-principal, teachers, and office and caretaking staff. We love working with them and appreciate the great work they do with our children every day.
Every parent and guardian at Adam Beck has a voice on school council. We hope that you will attend a council meeting next year, volunteer, attend events, and feel free to reach out to the council co-chairs with your concerns.
Note from Jeny: I’d like to highlight that co-chair Karen McMullin won’t be returning next year because her child is graduating. Karen has run Monsterbash for the last five years and has been co-chair for the last two years. Thank you, Karen, for all you work!
Have a safe and happy summer,
Jeny Nussey and Karen McMullin, school council co-chairs
