Adam Beck Day at the Marlies – UPDATE!!

Smart Moves, Not Smartphones!
The Mental Health & Well-Being Committee at Adam Beck is proud to be part of a growing national movement to delay smartphones with access to social media and internet browsers until at least age 14.
To make this shift truly impactful, we’re partnering with neighbouring schools— @glenamess and @kewbeachschoolcouncil -because the more families and communities who join in, the easier it is to change the norm and reduce the pressure on our kids.
Why is this important?
When schools stand together, we create a united front that helps normalize childhood without smartphones. Kids feel less left out, parents feel more supported, and we build a stronger culture that prioritizes real-life connection, imagination, and mental well-being over screen time and social media stress.
Sign the pledge. Tell two friends. Let’s lead the change—together.

We’re thrilled with the amazing parent response to Adam Beck Unplugged! Thank you to everyone who’s been asking questions, spreading the word, and making pledges.
If you’re a parent of a Grade 4, 5, or 6 student—now’s the time to take action! Let’s boost those pledges and show our kids that we’re committed to positive change and supporting their mental health.
Together, as a community, we can make a real impact. Let’s unplug to reconnect. Please send to a friend!

Our last movie night of the school year takes place on Friday, April 25 in the school gym. Students will vote in advance, in their classrooms, on which movie they would like to see.
A huge thanks to our new movie night sponsor @take2design.to
Movie night is a fun night out for students where the school council sells pizza, drinks and treats to raise money for its initiatives. Students take on the best seats in the house (the gym floor) and they bring their own sleeping bags, blankets, pillows and even their favourite stuffie. Doors open at 6:30 pm, the movie starts at 7:00 pm and there will be a brief intermission about halfway through the movie.
* Parents/guardians are required to be in the gym with their children throughout the evening.

Smart Moves, Not Smartphones!
The Mental Health & Well-Being Committee at Adam Beck is joining a growing national movement to delay smartphones with access to social media and internet browsers until at least age 14.
Why? Because childhood should be filled with imagination, connection, and real-life experiences—not scrolling, stress, or social media pressure.
There’s growing evidence that early access to smartphones, social media, and unfiltered internet can negatively affect kids’ brains, behaviour, relationships, and mental health.
By pledging together through @unpluggedcanada we take the pressure off everyone.
Sign the pledge. Tell two friends. Let’s change the norm.
