Grade 5 December Pizza Lunch

Grade 5 students going to island school, Pizza lunch will be on Tuesday, December 11. We will serve the pizza from the kitchen at noon when they have their lunch.

The TDSB celebrates African Heritage (Black History) Month in February. This year’s chosen theme is: The Power of Us. This theme focuses on Black Student well-being, building a sense of belonging and celebrating Black Brilliance: inviting all to participate in building community and supporting Black Mental Wellness.

Read-a-Thon is officially underway! Here are some helpful tips to get you in the reading spirit!

1. Create a reading list – what books will your child read this month?

2. Need some new books? Encourage your child to take out a book from the Adam Beck library, visit the Toronto Public Library or check out a local bookstore.

3. Know how many minutes your child needs to read to be entered into our draw and plan your reading time each day:

– JK/SK = 150 mins
– Gr 1-3 = 300 mins
– Gr 4-5 = 450 mins
– Gr 6 = 600 mins

4. Download the reading log or speak to your teacher if you did not receive a paper copy last week.

Read-a-Thon is coming! The Adam Beck Read-a-Thon is a fun and rewarding program that helps students grow a love of reading by engaging them in a friendly reading competition throughout the month of February. Students read their favourite books, keep track of the minutes spent reading every day – in class, at home, or elsewhere – and submit their total minutes at the end of the program. Prizes to be won!
