Interested to contribute to a teacher’s end of year gift? Read how
At this time of year, many parents wish to thank our teachers with a little token of appreciation. While it is easier to do so with classroom teachers, it is trickier with those who teach everyone. In the past, at the request of parents, we have arranged a way to pool contributions to get a more substantial gift and we are doing that again this year.
Please note for those who do not wish to contribute and/or want to do something else to say thank you to these teachers, this is entirely optional. We are simply providing a way for those who wish to, to contribute to a group gift. If this is not something you want to take part in, please just stop reading and go on enjoying your day. For those of you who want to know more, read on….Iʼll try to make this brief but very clear.
There are four volunteer parents who will collect money and buy a gift card that is appropriate for that teacher. We recommend $5 contribution per student per teacher but the amount you contribute and which teacher gift you contribute to is totally up to you. There are three ways to make your contribution:
- Find the parent volunteers in the school yard and give them your money.
- Put the money into well marked envelope(s) (separate envelopes for separate teacher gifts) and submit to the office.
- Put the money into well marked envelope(s) (separate envelopes for separate teacher gifts) and have your child give it to their classroom teacher who will then submit to the office.
If submitting to teacher or office, PLEASE ensure:
- Separate teacher contributions are in separate envelopes – we have four different people collecting, they are parent volunteers, and it would make things MUCH easier if the contributions for different teachers were separate.
- Make sure the following are legibly written on the outside of EACH envelope – the name of the TEACHER you would like the contribution to go to, name of your child as well as grade and classroom – this will ensure your child’s contribution is accurately included in the thank you.
- If your contribution for a teacher is for more than one child, please make sure all the different names, classes and grades are included on the envelope.
Contributions will be accepted until FRIDAY, JUNE 22. A list of all the children contributing will be included in the thank you note and a gift card will be bought for that teacher with the money collected.
The teachers we are collecting for and the parents collecting are:
- Karen McMullin will be collecting for Ms Kara Smith – Phys. Ed (by the community centre doors).
- Rebekah Walker and Laura Henneberry will be collecting for Mr. Adam Mason – Integrated Arts.
- Claire Boxall will be collecting for Mme Shelley Zorzit – French and Phys. Ed.
- Kenia Villalta will be collecting for Ms Olga Panova – Library and Computers (ICT).
Please contact me directly at [email protected] if you have any questions. Please do not contact the office with questions or concerns – they will just be redirected to me and we want to minimize the work of the office staff at this busy time of year.
Thank you,
Karen McMullin
